Originally from Seattle, Isabella Pagel (she/her) is a recorder player and teacher who has taught and performed around the world. Isabella started playing the recorder when she was nine years old and since then she has studied with Nina Stern, Vicki Boeckman, Han Tol, and Bart Spanhove. As a performer, Isabella has played in numerous chamber ensembles both in Seattle and The Hague, Netherlands and has performed in various settings including benefit concerts, orchestral productions at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and solo recitals. She also pursued a Bachelors of Music and a minor in Education at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague studying with Reine-Marie Verhagen.
Isabella began her teaching career at the age of twelve by instructing skiing to four-year old’s. Ever since, she has been dedicated to the teaching process and continues to teach recorder (and skiing) to children and adults of all ages. Isabella has taught recorder with Pi Muziek voor Kleuters, a unique music program for preschool students in The Hague, the Netherlands. Isabella joined the S’Cool Sounds team as an Intern and a teacher in the Kibera slum of Kenya in 2017. From that point, Isabella moved into taking on the role of Communications Coordinator and recently co-wrote the S’Cool Sounds Curriculum with Nina Stern.
